Wales, like England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, competed as the United Kingdom for the first 6 contests. They participated independently for the first time in Tórshavn and looked set to challenge for victory after wins in the quarter and semi finals. However points dried up in the final and they missed the top 10 altogether, finishing 12th. Disappointment came in both Madrid and Bratislava as well when Wales were eliminated in the semi finals. Their first victory came in Yerevan at the hands of Marina & The Diamonds and JordanC55
